Oaktree School Case Study

Oaktree School Case Study

Oaktree School based in Enfield, London is a mixed day school for pupils with a range of complex needs, including pupils with some social difficulties linked to their learning. It provides for 95 pupils aged 7-19 and offers a broad and balanced access to the National Curriculum.

Their curriculum is offered either through a topic or subject specialism.  The school cover a variety of National Curriculum subjects at differentiated levels, form ‘P’ levels to Entry Level accreditation.

The school applied for a grant from Experia’s partner Lord’s Taverners, which provides funding grants for young people to develop their skills, especially through sport. With a £25,000 grant, staff at Oaktree School were able to invest in a state-of-the-art sensory room developed to meet the specific needs of pupils at the school.

The finished article consists of a 5-in-1 multisensory environment and is made up  of the following:

The School are confident and excited that their new sensory room will help their students explore themselves as individuals and develop interaction between others. It will also provide them with an environment to help them deal with physical, medical, behavioural and social needs

James Ford, Headteacher stated:

Ford went onto state:

“I am a very fussy person and always want the best for my class and school. I worked closely with the Experia Team to give the ideas of what we wanted as a school and we wanted a lot! They managed to give us a multipurpose room with high-quality products that allowed our students to be in control and make choices”.
